Kristina Buozyte was born at 1982, in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She studied film and television direction at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy. Prior to The Collectress, Buozyte made a number of short films and music videos and participated in various workshops and seminars outside Lithuania.
Buozyte began to make a name for herself with her short film Change the Record, 2005, which was awarded at the international student film workshop Summer Media Studio in Lithuania, and participated in the Rotterdam film festival HotSpots programme. Buozyte has also collaborated on the screenplays of her colleagues Ignas Miskinis, Inesa Kurklietytee, Knut Erik Jensen, and others.
The question, "Why we are so much emotional when we are watching films - then we are laughing, crying, trembling?" inspired the young director to make The Collectress.
The Collectress was produced by the film production companies TREMORA (www.tremora.com) and Reflex AG (www.reflex.lt) in collaboration with the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
