The story of the generation who lived through the entire Soviet period is told through the main character: his childhood spent in a village, true friendship, work in Soviet Klaipėda, thrilling eroticism and the fatal love - everything is so simple and so achingly real. According to the director, Gytis Lukšas, Vortex is a film about a man who was broken by the Soviet gloom and whose life stayed unnoticed. The film is based on a story by Lithuanian writer Romualdas Granauskas.
Vortex is produced by Studija 2 with lead producers Arūnas Stoškus and Kęstutis Petrulis in collaboration with Lithuanian Film Studios (www.lfs.lt).
International sales has Studija 2, Vilnius. Vortex participated at Montreal World Film Festival (Focus on World Cinema) and has been invited for a screenings at Cairo International Film festival and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) (www.moma.org).Its 700,000 Euro budget (2.4 million Lt.) was partly supported by by the Lithuanian Film Studio, Lithuanian Ministery of Culture (www.lrkm.lt), the Lithuanian Culture and Sport Support Foundation (www.ksrf.lt) and Vilnius city municipality (www.vilnius.lt)
