After success as an amateur filmmaker Puipa graduated in 1974 from Moscow's VGIK. He has focused in his work chiefly on adaptations of domestic and world literature, for which he has won a number of awards at international festivals.
The main character of the story is Monika, a married, forty-year-old woman suffering a drama of loneliness, infertility and an unfaithful husband. A car accident and the suicide of an injured prostitute utterly change Monika's life. Divorce, the fate of her wards and Monika's injury in the car crash are the start of her new life. The leading roles are played by Lithuanian film directors Janina Lapinskaitė and Vytautas Blažys. Actresses Giedrė Giedraitytė, Elzė Gudavičiūtė, Miglė Polikevičiūtė play three former prostitutes deported from Germany.
The film is produced by Studio Uljana Kim with funding from the Lithuanian Ministery of Culture (www.lrkm.lt). The budget is 800,000 Euro.
Filming will be complete by the end of October 2010. The national premjere is set for autumn 2011.
