The Malta Film Fund (mfc.com.mt), which was launched in 2008, awarded 184,000 euros in 2011, supporting eight production companies and three feature films. The funds are used for development and production of national films and documentaries. Since its founding, some 1 million euros has been distributed by the fund.

The Malta film industry has grown with the influx of international productions coming into the country, said to total 65 films and 150 million in local spend since 2008.
