FESTIVALS: Podgorica Film Festival 2020 Opens Online

By

PODGORICA: The 5th edition of the Podgorica Film Festival will be held from 15 to 20 December 2020 on the first VoD platform in Montenegro. It will open with the multi-awarded coproduction Father by Srdan Golubovic, featuring the highly acclaimed regional actor Goran Bogdan.

The out-of-competition programme will screen 11 feature films and two Montenegrin short feature student films: Great Achievements by Nikola Vucinic and A Third One by Milorad Milatovic, produced by the Academy of Dramatic Arts.

The festival section Retrospectives is dedicated to Peter Webber. The accompanying festival segment will include a masterclass by Peter Webber and online talks with film authors.

The Montenegrin Cinematheque will present two annual awards: The Kino-eye award for contribution to film art goes to British director/editor/producer Peter Webber, and the Ratko Djurovic award for the contribution to preservation of Montenegrin and world film heritage goes to Montenegrin film director Momir Matovic.

The festival's director Andro Martinovic said, „Podgorica Film Festival will be held this year too, because film is still alive. This small jubilee 5th edition will be held not in the new Cinematheque building as planned, but in your homes instead. We are not happy with this situation, but we are trying to find a light in this civilisation twilight zone by enabling great films to be watched around all of Montenegro.“

The festival is organised by the NGO Podgorica Film Festival in cooperation with the Montenegrin Cinematheque and is supported by Film Centre of Montenegro and the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital Municipality.
