Komeda Over Poznań follows the life of Krzysztof Komeda, a Polish composer and pianist who is considered to be the pioneer of modern jazz in Poland. The film combines the image of the musician and Poznan, the city where he was raised and where his artistic sensitivity was shaped. The picture will combine statements from his family, friends and co-workers with the image of places most connected to his life and work. A special element of the project are 3D animations inspired by the artist's biography and created by Piotr Dumała, one of the most internationally recognized and accomplished Polish animation filmmakers.
The director of the film is Natasza Ziółkowska-Kurczuk and the cinematographer is Tomasz Michałowski. The story of the legendary composer and pianist will be told on screen in statements from other musicians including Jerzy Milian, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Andrzej Idon Wojciechowski, Michał Urbaniak, David Burman, Leszek Możdżer, and Wojciech Karolak.
The film is produced by Telewizja Regionalna - Stowarzyszenie Europejskie in co -production with Estrada Poznańska (www.estrada.poznan.pl) and Aurum Film (www.aurumfilm.pl). The budget of the production has not yet been announced. The film received financial support from the Great Poland Film Fund. The shoot in Warsaw was preceded by filming in Poznan. The documentary will also be shot in Ostrow Wielkopolski, Katowice and Lodz. The production will last till the end of October with a premiere planned for December 2011.

PRODUCTION: Komeda Animated Doc in Production
By Katarzyna GrynienkoWARSAW: Komeda Nad Poznaniem (Komeda Over Poznań), an original documentary devoted to the Polish music composer Krzysztof Komeda Trzciński, is being shot in Warsaw. The premiere is planned for December 2011.
