{mosimage}Supermarket is a dark, mysterious story about a young boy who is arrested for a crime in a big department store. Due to unclear reasons for his delinquency, he is sent off for observation in a psychiatric ward, where he tells a story about the events of the New Year's Eve when the crime happened. His tale becomes a horror story involving a married couple, whose life was forever changed by the events. Żak is a Polish film and television director, most popular for his drama The Bench (www.pleograf.pl) starring Jolanta Fraszyńska and Artur Żmijewski.

{mosimage}"I wanted to create an intriguing story that would be formally attractive for the viewer. It all takes place in a very colorful world that is only seemingly safe. On the outside it is vivid, happy and fantastic. The ‘ideal' aura is also underlined by the Christmas shopping season. When we go deeper into it, turns out that there are a lot of different types of filth," Żak told FNE.

{mosimage}The film is produced by the director's company St. Lazare Film Studio in co-production Cezar 10 S.A.(www.cezar10.pl), Chimney Pot (www.chimney.pl), Dreamsound (www.dreamsound.pl), Panavision (www.panavision.pl), and Lukas Film (www.lukasfilm.pl). The film received 1.9 million (EUR 454,000) production financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The film will be released in Poland by the end of 2012.
