The film, set in Warsaw in summer 2012, is about a young married couple who house-sit in an old building that was a former German embassy. They discover a time portal in one of the elevators that allows them to travel to Warsaw in 1939, just before the outbreak of WWII. As usual, Machulski mixes time periods and genres to sustain his unique style of film entertainment.
The film is produced by Studio Filmowe ZEBRA (www.zebrafilm.pl) in co-production with Canal+ Polska (wwww.canaplus.pl), Telekomunikacja Polska (www.orange.pl), Studio Produkcyjne Orka, and Agora S.A. Because of the mix in time periods and thriller elements of this project, there will be a lot of special effects involved. The producer told FNE that the post-production stage will last at least until the end of 2012, handled by Orka Studio (www.orkafilm.pl) and Newborn (www.newborn.pl), a company specializing in 3D animations of the historic Warsaw landscape. The film received financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).
Machulski cast a mix of unknown young actors and accomplished older actors. The cinematographer is Witold Adamek, and the production designer is Wojciech Żogała.
The distribution of AmbaSSada will be managed by Agora S.A. (www.agpra.pl) with the premiere planned for 2013.
