TVP to share airwaves with ARTE

WARSAW: Major Polish and French broadcasters have inked a deal on an exchange of programs and joint projects that shows unprecedented pooling of resources and strategies in the region.

Juliusz Braun, president of TVP and ARTE president Veronique Cayla and vice president Gottfield Langstein have announced the pact between the two pubcaster majors.

The Polish public broadcaster told FNE that cooperation will entail including productions from each broadcaster into the other's programming and joint projects for viewers who consume content on-line. TVP Kultura, a channel devoted to more challenging and artistic fare, will be the main outlet for ARTE's productions in Poland.

"We also plan mutual support in production as well as exchange of archive and informational materials and co-operation on joint audiovisual and theater projects," a TVP statement indicated. Representatives from TVP will also serve as advisors during ARTE's program conferences and general assemblies.
