Ida Wins Polish Eagle

    WARSAW: Paweł Pawlikowski’s Ida won Best Film at the Polish Film Awards – The Eagles on 10 March 2014, while Life Feels Good  took home the most prizes with five Polish Eagles.

    Ida, a local and international box office hit and a Polish-Danish coproduction (Opus Film, Canal Plus Cyfrowy, Phoenix Film Ivestment) previously won the Grand Prix at the 29th Warsaw Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival and was sold to over 30 countries including US, Canada and Israel (sales agent Fandango).

    Maciej Pieprzyca was awarded for the Best Screenplay for Life Feels Good, the story a young man overcoming his disability was produced by Tramway in co-production with the Polish Film Institute, Silesia Film Institute, Telewizja Polska and Monternia.pl.

    The Polish Eagle for the Best Actor was won by Dawid Ogrodnik for his moving performance in Life Feels Good while Agata Kulesza was named the Best Actress for her role in Ida. The prizes for best supporting male and female roles went to Arkadiusz Jakubik and Anna Nehrebecka for Life Feels Good. The director of the dark comedy-drama The Girl from the Wardrobe received the Discovery Of The Year Prize. The film was produced by Documentary and Feature Film Production Company (WFDiF) in coproduction with CANAL+. Dorota Kędzierzawska won the Best Documentary prize for Another World.

    The Polish Eagle for the Best European Film was won by the box office hit Sugar Man. Papusza (producer Lambros Ziotas, Argomedia), a drama devoted to the life of the first Gypsy poet, directed by Krzysztof Krauze and Joanna Kos-Krauze won the most of technical prizes including Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design and the Best Music award for Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz.
