Stones for the Rampant (Kamienie na szaniec) directed by Robert Gliński has been one of the most awaited Polish titles of the year due to the immense popularity of the novel. The book, written in 1943 by Aleksnader Kamiński, is a part of the classical canon of Polish literature of the 20th Century. The opening weekend of the film noted 81,012 admissions, far below the number that was expected. However, a large number of school-age viewers coming to see the picture as part of their classes boosted ticket sales of the film in the first week since it premiered in Poland on 7 March 2014, placing it in competition with the most successful titles of the year.

The film follows a group of Polish boy-scouts, members of Gray Rank, who were a part of Operation Arsenal. Rudy (Tomasz Ziętek), Zośka (Marcel Sabat) and Alek (Kamil Szeptycki) are childhood friends. When Rudy is captured by the Germans, other boys strive to free him, but he is too weak and hurt from the torturous interrogation. Rudy dies shortly after gaining his freedom, quickly followed by his friends, who also meet with tragic ends. The novel is considered to be a symbol of a generation of young Poles lost during WWII.

Stones for the Rampant was shot on location in Warsaw and Lublin from August to October 2013. The film is produced by Monolith Films in coproduction with Akces Films and co-financing from the Polish Film Institute. The film is distributed by Monolith Films.
