Filming began in Warsaw on 14 July 2015.

CANAL+ has already announced its strategy to create more locally produced shows in Poland. "Production of unique programs based on original ideas and scripts is what distinguishes Canal+ from other broadcasters," said Julien Verley, President of ITI Neovision, which is a broadcaster of Canal+. Canal+ plans to create two original Polish shows per year.

The last series produced by Canal+ was Blood of Blood and Mission Afghanistan in 2012. Film production by the station was halted after Cyfra+ fused with n platform.

Belfer is the first project since the station's return to production of local programming. It will be directed by Łukasz Palkowski (Gods, Watchout Productions) and stars Maciej Stuhr in the leading role. The script is written by Jakub Żulczyk and Monika Powalisz. The series will premiere in fall 2016 on Canal+.
