Playground, presented at the 2015 CentEast Warsaw Works In Progress showcase, is a dark drama exploring the subject of child psychopathology, about a crime committed by a couple of six-graders. Inspired by true events, the drama is based on a script written by Bartosz M. Kowalski and Stanisław Warwas, winners of the Main Prize at the prestigious SCRIPT PRO Competition 2014.
"We decided on a very reduced crew and a raw, hand held visual style with natural lighting to achieve realism that would express this topic the best," the director Bartosz said.
The film is produced by Film It with a budget of 2.4 m PLN with 2 m PLN of financing from the Polish Film Institute. The film was shot in July in Świdnica and Wałbrzych. The young cast includes Michalina Świstoń, Nikolas Przygoda, Przemysław Baliński and Patryk Świderski.
The distributor of the picture is Film It and the film will open in Polish cinemas in March 2016.
