Letters to Santa 2, directed by Maciej Dejczar and produced by TVN, was shot between February and April 2015. The second part of the comedy brought back an all-star cast of popular Polish actors including Agnieszka Dygant, Roma Gąsiorowska, Katarzyna Zielińska, Piotr Adamczyk, Tomasz Karolak, Wojciech Malajkat, Maciej Stuhr and Małgorzata Kożuchowska.
Branded as the “Polish Love Actually 2", the film opened in Polish cinemas on 13 November 2015 distributed by Kino Świat. The distributor informed FNE that the Polish romantic comedy is the record opening title in the company's history. The film was also very popular at pre-premiere screenings and by the end of the first weekend in distribution it had over 655,000 admissions. In 2011, the first part of the Christmas themed comedy sold over 2.6 m tickets. The sequel has already reached 25% of that figure, foreshadowing another box office success for TVN.
The romantic comedy currently holds the number one spot as the best opening for a Polish title in 30 years.
November has been a strong month for Polish cinemas so far, as Spectre had the highest grossing weekend opening in Poland, until the success of the Polish holiday comedy. The previous Bond film, Skyfall, opened on 26 October 2012 and set box-office records in the opening weekend with 390,000 viewers and was in theatres for 18 weeks. Currently the US production is certain to compete with the Polish title for number one spot in the box office for 2015.
