The shoot for The Art of Love launched on 21 May 2016.
Wisłocka became famous for her determination to educate Poles about their sex lives in contrast to the conservative and traditional approach that was cultivated before her work started. Her so-called textbook sold more than seven million copies in Poland, not including the number of copies in unofficial circulation. “The Art of Love” was also a bestseller in other countries in the Soviet bloc. The film will tell the story of the development of the book between the late 1940’s and the mid-1970’s. The screenwriter is Krzysztof Rak, most recognised for his work on Łukasz Palkowski's box office hit Gods by Watchout Productions.
The film is produced by Watchout Productions in coproduction with TVN S.A., Orange S.A. and Agora S.A.. The budget is 6.7 m PLN (1.5 m EUR) with 2 m financing from the Polish Film Institute.
The leading role will be played by Magdalena Boczarska, winner of the Golden Lion at the Gdynia Film Festival for her part in Little Rose directed by Jan Kidawa-Błoński and produced by WFDiF. The cast includes Piotr Adamczyk, Justyna Wasilewska, Eryk Lubos, Danuta Stenka, Karolina Gruszka, Borys Szyc, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Arkadiusz Jakubik and Artur Barciś.
