Poland Opens Podkarpackie Film Commission

By

WARSAW: Poland introduced its seventh regional film commission, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in southeastern Poland. The Podkarpackie Regional Film Fund is planned to launch in 2017.

The Podkarpackie Film Commission was launched on 8 June 2016 and is a part of the Voivodeship Culture Center structure. Similar to other active regional commissions, the Podkarpackie Commission was created to increase the number of film productions in the region and provide technical support for the audiovisual industry. The Commission is headed by Marta Żurek and Michał Wiatr is the main film production specialist.

Poland has six active Film Commissions: Krakow Film Commission, Łódź Film Commission, Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission, Poznań Film Commission, Silesia Film Commission and Wrocław Film Commission.

Currently the Commission is creating a base of film locations and film professionals and companies in the region. The Commission also plans educational initiatives for young filmmakers and co-operation with public authorities in creating an attractive work environment for the filmmakers and film producers in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
