The story follows the owners of a nationalised pig farm in a small village, whose lives are turned upside-down when a handsome American arrives, pledging to save the struggling enterprise. But as Irena, the owner, begins to fall for his charms, she realises that his intentions may not be entirely innocent.
The film is an official European coproduction between Lithuania's In Script and Bulgaria's Geopoly in coproduction with Poland's Orka Studio with a budget of 794,000 EUR. The project is supported by Media 2007 single project development, the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Bulgarian National Film Center, Eurimages, and is benefitting from the Lithuanian tax incentives.
"As we are in postproduction, Egle Vertelyte is currently working in Warsaw with Polish editor Milenia Fiedler. The last cut will be finished until the end of November 2017", producer Radka Bardes told FNE. "I decided to produce this film because of the script. It tells the story of a woman in her late 40’s, who looses everything in her life over the course of a few months. The story is set at the dawn of transition from communism to capitalism, and that period deeply imprinted in my brain. This project has an international potential as it focuses on important matters", Fiedler also said.
The premiere has not yet been announced as producers are currently negotiating with distributors and at the same time looking for a sales agent.
