ŁÓDŹ: Nine people have been selected to the Board of the newly created National Film Centre, designed to showcase Polish cinema. The NFC will start its activities in November 2016.

The Board of the National Film Center located in Łódź will include:

Polish Film Institute Director Magdalena Sroka; President of the Polish Filmmakers Association Jacek Bromski;  Ministry of Culture and National Heritage representatives Tomasz Majewski, Paweł Siedlik and Sławomir Kalwinek. Łódź Film School professor Mariusz Grzegorzek; composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek; film critic Krystyna Piaseczna and set designer Allan Starski.

The National Film Center was created as a result of a contract between the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the City of Łódź signed in September of 2015. The mission of the centre is film knowledge promotion and presentation of the accomplishments of Polish cinema. The National Film Centre is located in a cultural and educational complex created in the former power plant EC1. The whole investment is planned to span from 2016 to 2019 and is designed to make the Center one of the most modern institutions of this type in Europe.

"The National Film Centre will be an institution preserving the heritage of Polish cinema on multiple levels. The Centre will integrate the activity of other institutions located in Łódź with a similar profile, for example the Museum of Cinematography and the Łódź Film Centre," the former Polish Minister of Culture Małgorzata Omilanowska told FNE.
