Polish TV introduces subtitles
By FNE Staff
Public broadcaster Polish TV will begin broadcasting programmes in original language with subtitles in place of the traditional Polish language voice overs and dubbing.
According to Polish Radio, the ministries of education and culture are supporting an "English First" initiative, which declares that Poles will become more proficient in English with the use of subtitles for TV programmes. PTV is to begin using subtitles on a regular basis beginning in September. The programmes will target younger audiences. Polish radio reports that no commercial TV stations are planning to move to subtitles at this time.
