Pola Negri was born Barbara Apolonia Chalupiec in Lipno, Poland, in 1897 and died in 1987. After attending ballet school and drama college in Warsaw, she rose to stardom quickly. She moved to Berlin in 1917 and then settled in the United States. She appeared in 63 films, mostly in Germany and America.
Pola Negri was the 11th star in Hollywood history to place her hand and foot prints in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater.
The exhibition has been mounted jointly with the Film Archives in Warsaw and the Polish Institute in Dusseldorf, Germany. Later this year, it will travel to Vienna, Berlin, London and Chicago.
