PRODUCTION: Polish War Thriller in Preparation

    WARSAW: Marcin Krzyształowicz is in preproduction with Manhunt (Obława), a thriller set during of German occupation of Poland during WWII.

    The film follows Corporal Wydra, a partisan solider specializing in executing Germans and Polish traitors. When he is assigned to kill a former school friend-turned-informant, he takes his victim to the execution spot and finds his army unit friends have been massacred. The director explored the dark side of life during the occupation, which he contends is misrepresented in most Polish films as a time filled with acts of goodness.

    The shoot is planned for fall 2011 in Cracow. The producer is Skorpion Arte in co-production with Big Blue TV (www.bigbluetv.pl ) and Non Stop Film Service (www.nsfs.pl). The producer expects support from the Polish Film Institute (PFI,www.pisf.pl), which will close the budget and move the production to the shooting stage.

    The DoP for the project is Andrzej Szulkowski (Wedding), the set designer is by Grzegorz Skawiński (Katyń), the costume designer is Katarzyna Lewińska (Evil House) and music is composed by Michał Lorenc (Little Rose). The cast includes Robert Więckiewicz, Best Actor winner at the 2011 Polish Eagles, in the lead. He will be accompanied by Polish actors Maciej Stuhr, Sonia Bohosiewicz, Weronika Rosati, Mirosław Baka and Eryk Lubos, with German actors taking on the German roles.
