The regional Gdynia Film Fund (www.ckgdynia.pl) announced its 2011 grants. The fund will finance six productions with a total of 700,000 PLN (178,000 EUR) to support the local film industry.

The fund will co-finance three documentary films: Wygnańcy (Exiled) directed by Tadeusz Litowiczenka and Aleksandra Goska (55,000 PLN); Pianobus Tomka Stroynowskiego: Pomorze Gdańskie (Tomek Storynowski's Pianobus) directed by Andrzej Mańkowski (50,000 PLN); and Karol Borchardt - kapitan własnej duszy (Karol Borchardt- The captain of His Own Soul) directed by Michał Dąbrowski.

The fund's committee selected two fiction projects for financial support: a television series titled Life Line, directed by Wojiech Pacyna, Jerzy Sołtysiak and Jerzy Sztwiernia (60,000 PLN) and produced by Polsat (www.polsat.pl); and the feature film Tylko mnie nie strasz (Just Don't Scare Me) directed and produced Piotr Wereśniak (350,000). The Fund also granted 130,000 PLN to an animation film, Scarecrow, directed by Przemysław Anusiewicz. The selected filmmakers will be asked to sign a contract with the Gdynia Culture Center after they confirm other financing sources for their projects.

The Gdynia Film Fund was established in 2008 as part of the Regional Film Funds system introduced by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The budget of the Fund for 2011 is 700,000 PLN which is available to film professionals and film producers with projects that benefit the development of the Pomeranian film industry or create a positive image of the region.
