FESTIVALS: TVP’s Argentinean Lesson Wins Leipzig Silver Dove

    Polish director Wojciech Staron won the Silver Dove and a cash award of 3,000 euros in the main competition of the Leipzig IFF for documentaries and animated films for Argentinean Lesson produced by the director and Polish public broadcaster TV Polska (www.tvp.pl).

    Although German films dominated the awards, CEE films claimed five awards, including the following:

    Silver Dove in the animated film competition for Slovakia's Blue Red directed by Daniela Krajcova;

    Honorable Mention (young talent competition) for Phnom Penh Lullaby by Polish director Pawel Kolc:

    Honorable Mention (young talent competition) for Bakhmaro, a Georgian/German coproduction directed by Salome Jashi;

    Honorable Mention (animation competition) for Body Memory by Estonian director Ulo Pikkov.
