Slisans won the award for his script The Apartments a comedy set in contemporary Latvia. It is Slisans first project as writer and producer. The project already has development support from EU MEDIA programme and the National Film Center of Latvia.
Honourable mention went to Romanian scriptwriter George Dorobantu for his script 0/1 about a young hacker who falls in love with the girl next door with some complications. The awards ceremony was held in Cannes and Aviva Silver, Head of the MEDIA and Media Literacy Unit at the European Commission, was among the dignitaries attending. Dariusz Jablonski, Artistic director of ScripTeast and President of the Independent Film Foundation, hosted the ceremony.
This year marks the sixth edition of ScripTeast which works with selected scriptwriters to develop their projects and turn them into successful films. Nine feature films have already been produced out of the first five editions of ScripTeast making it one of the most successful scriptwriting development projects in Europe. To date 87 experienced scriptwriters from 10 Eastern European countries have participated in the programme.
