John Riley and Pavel Cechak from production company Lucky Man Films (www.luckymanfilms.com) said the production has partnered with a Slovak coproducer, the new production company Filmworx (www.filmworx.sk) and Poland’s Centrala (www.centralafilm.pl), with Gutek Film (www.gutekfilm.pl) handling distribution.
“We have all the Czech funding secured,” Cechak told FNE, including a grant from the Czech film fund and support from Czech TV (www.ceska-televize.cz). The 2 m EUR film has lined up 900,000 from the Czech Republic, 300,000 EUR from Poland, and 120,000 from Slovakia, and it received MEDIA Programme development support. The producers are negotiating with Barrandov Studios (www.barrandov.cz) for in-kind services and will apply for the Czech film tax rebate programme as well as for for Eurimages funding in January 2013.
Lost in Munich is a black comedy directed by Petr Zelenka. Cechak described the film as “two films in one. The first 50 minutes is in the framework of a standard film that segues into a mockumentary of a ‘making of’ movie.” The metaphorical title alludes to a connection with the 1938 Munich Pact, embodied in the film by a French-speaking parrot.
