Speaking exclusively to FNE high profile Italian politician Debora Serracchiani, President of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region said that the cooperation was based on a long history of shared cultural, historical and economic ties between the Italian region and Croatia and Slovenia and she sees the initiative boosting other areas of the region beyond just the audiovisual sector.

Also at the launch were Paolo Vidali head of the (FVG) and Hrvoje Hribar (HAVC) with Tamara Perišić on behalf Ministry of Culture of Republic of Croatia and as well as the Torina Film Lab who will work with training.

The official protocol setting up RE-ACT which has an initial annual budget of 150 000 EUR at its disposal will be signed during the annual Festival of Slovenian Film in Portoroz (10-14 September 2014).  Jožko Rutar head of the Slovenian Film Centre said at the press conference at the Venice Film Market that the cooperation between two national bodies, Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), and Slovenian Film Centre, and a regional body, the neighbouring Italian region of FVG Audiovisual Fund was a unique concept.

Several projects have already been made as regional co-productions in the region including Zoran, My Nephew The Idiot (Italy, Slovenia) directed by Matteo Oleotto which screened in Venice Critics Week last year and was coproduced by Slovenia’s Staragara and supported by the Slovenian Film Centre. Staragara are back in Venice Critics Week again this year with the doc Dancing with Maria (Italy, Argentina, Slovenia) directed by Ivan Gergolet.
