The new guidelines for distributing Creative Europe funding within the Europa Cinemas Network set out new programming objectives for network film theatres in 2015 and 2016. These changes aim into take account the digital technologies that have already been implemented in most countries and are intended to encourage innovative strategies in marketing and attracting audiences.
Under the new rules network cinemas in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Malta, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will have a different threshold for access to support from the network that takes into account the difficult conditions in their markets.
The Europa Cinemas Network works in 42 countries with 977 cinemas and a total of 2,350 screens. It is co-funded by Creative Europe MEDIA. The next Europa Cinemas Network Conference will take place 27-29 November 2015 in Prague. For more information see www.europa-cinemas.org
