The series looks at films made during the last decade before the November 9, 1989, fall of the Berln Wall. Included in the selection are films from Krzysztof Kieslowski and Jan Svankmajer, as well as films made in the official state film studios in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.

Gabor Body, Hungary 1983; Prefab Story, dir. Vera Chytilova, CSSR, 1979/81; Dimensions of Dialogue, dir. Jan Svankmajer, CSSR, 1982; Trabantomania, dir Janos Veto, Hungary, 1982; The War of the Worlds - Next Century, dir. Piotr Szulkin, Poland, 1981/83; and Little Valentino, dir. Andras Jeles, Hungary, 1979. The Berlinale takes place February 5-15, 2009.
