FILMBOX HD, the first full HD film channel in the Central Europe, launched in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland in January 2008 and in Hungary in May 2008.

Ivan Hronec, General Manager of SPI International Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, and Ivana Sulikova, Executive Director of SPI International Television, will present SPI updates at the HDTV Forum 2009, April 21-22, in Prague, and at the Hungarian Cable Communications Association Conference and General Assembly, April 26-28, Balatonfüred, Hungary.

In addition to its TV operations, SPI is the biggest buyer and distributor of independent films in Central Europe, operating in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. Earlier this year SPI brought film channels FILMBOX EXTRA and FILMBOX HD to Romania and Bulgaria.
