Night Falls in India /Anochese en la India/Noaptea vine în Indiais a roadmovieinvolving Ricardo, an ex-hippy now in his sixties and suffering from a lethal disease, and his Romanian housekepper, Dana. As Ricardo's days are numbered, he decides to die in the country where he lived his greatest love story.
The main characters will be played by Juan Diego and Clara Vodă. The film is a Spanish-Romanian co-production between Alvaro Alonso, Alvaro Suárez and Jaleo Films (www.jaleofilms.com), Chema Rodríguez, José Nolla and Producciones sin un duro (www.produccionessinunduro.com), together with Cătălin Mitulescu, Daniel Mitulescu and Strada Film (www.stradafilm.ro).
The project received a production grant of 188,000 euro (783,547 RON) from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in April 2011. The representatives from Strada Film did not disclose the budget, but told FNE that the film will be shot in Spain, Romania, Turkey and India.
The dates of shooting are still to be finalized. The premiere is loosely set for the end of 2012.
