The main shooting started in February 2011 and lasted for about two months, but additional shooting is still to be completed in Bucharest and Târgovişte (where Ceauşescu was put to trial and shot) in November, Gabrea told FNE. Melania Oproiu is the editor.
The Last Days of Ceauşescu/Ultimele zile ale lui Ceauşescu is a Romanian-Hungarian co-production between Tudor Şerban and Orion Film and Laszlo Kantor and Uj Budapest Film Studio (www.ujbudapestfilmstudio.hu). It received a production grant of 28,000 Euro from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro), being also supported by the Romanian Public Televison (www.tvr.ro). The budget is 46,500 Euro.
The script was written by Grigore Cartianu, editor-in-chief at Adevărul daily and the author of the book The End of the Ceauşescus/Sfârşitul Ceauşeştilor. The film consist of a fictional part, where the characters of Nicolae and Elena Ceauşescu are played by Constantin Cojocaru and Victoria Cociaş, and also of interviews with some 30 real people.
Gabrea plans to screen the film in Romanian cinemas in 2012.
