FNE at TIFF 2013: A Month in Thailand

    CLUJ-NAPOCA: A Month in Thailand, the first feature of Paul Negoescu screens in Romanian Days at the Transilvania IFF, 6-8 June 2013, after premiering at the Venice International Film Critics’ Week.

    The film unspools its story over the course of 24 hours when a young man (Andrei Mateiu) who is breaking up with his girlfriend (Ioana Anastasia Anton) and trying to get back together with a former girlfriend (Sînziana Nicola) on New Year's Eve. Negoescu (27), part of the younger Romanian New Wave, captures the disorientation and shallowness of his own generation.

    The film was released in Romanian cinemas by Parada Film on 16 November 2012. 

    The film is a 100% Romanian production with Ada Solomon and HiFilm Productions producing, and it was supported by the Romanian National Centre for Cinema. It has been sold by MPM Film to France, where it will be distributed by Epicentre Films in the second half of 2013.

    Negoescu graduated the Bucharest Drama and Film University where he is now teaching. He was nominated for the European Film Awards in 2009, and he had three selections in the Berlinale Shorts (2008, 2009, and 2010). He was also awarded the Grand Prix for Derby at the Bristol festival in 2010 and the Best European Film for Renovation at Vila do Conde.
