BUCHAREST: Cinema admissions in Romania rose by 9 percent in 2013 while the box office climbed by 10 percent to more than 35.8m EUR/160m RON.
The National Centre for Cinema is now finalising numbers but it is estimating that admissions will be around 9,050,000 in 2013, compared to 8,348,538 in 2012.
Of the 192 films released in 2013, 28 were domestic releases which sold approximately 300,000 tickets, compared with 186 films distributed in 2012, including 23 domestic films.
The box office is expected to rise accordingly from 32.5 m EUR/144.8 m RON in 2012 to 35.8 m EUR/160 m RON in 2013.
