Bucharest based production company Family Film is currently providing location services in Romania for an untitled Bollywood project produced by Indian cult producer and director J. P. Dutta. But this is not the first Bollywood film shot in Romania. Jai Ho directed by Sohail Khan and starring Salman Khan had five days of shooting in Sibiu and Sighişoara last year with Family Film providing services.

“I have many Bollywood projects on my desk, nothing is settled but yes, it seems that there will be other projects,” Giuliano Doman from Family Film told FNE. In a sign that Family Film is taking Bollywood business seriously its website also has the contacts of its representative in India. 

The new untitled J P Dutta production which is being directed by Binoy Gandhi and serviced by Family Film started the Romanian part of its shoot on 28 July and is expected to wrap on 15 August. Shooting is taking place in Bucharest, and also in Braşov, Buşteni and Sinaia.

The film stars J P Dutta’s daughter, Nidhi Dutta who is making her acting debut. It is produced by J.P. Dutta’s new company J P Gene which was established to focus on youth films. Some 70% of the film is being shot in on locations in Romania including two song sequences and most of the non-musical portion. According to the Indian media the film has already completed the Indian part of its shoot in Goa and Hampi.

In Romania Bollywood films are now being distributed in cinemas on a regular basis through the local distribution company BML Movie Entertainment. The company also launched an application on seenow.ro in 2012 allowing viewers to watch Indian films on SVOD. The TV package Bollywood with Bollywood TV, Bollywood Classic and Bollyshow, produced by ISG TV S.R.L., was launched in Romania on UPC in 2012.
