Freealize plans to distribute independent European and local films, as well as films from Latin America and South America, ranging from comedies and emotional stories to animated films. Founded by Ileana Cecanu in 2013, Freealize will not only distribute films but it will also provide unconventional promotion solutions to producers, distributors and actors.
The company will distribute only two titles in 2014, the Irish comedy The Bachelor Weekend and the Romanian independent portmanteau film Short/4: Tales of Spades by Radu Jude, Luiza Pârvu, Iulia Rugină and Andrei Creţulescu. For the distribution of The Bachelor Weekend, the company used the teaser poster, the main poster and the trailer made in Romania by Good Hands company. "Drei-freunde, the German distributor from which we received the rights for Romania, supported us not only in the film's acquisition, but also in the campaign," Cecanu said.
"I have no idea how profitable it may be to distribute Romanian films, I wouldn't say that I wouldn't want Freealize to be profitable, but it is more important to educate the public and bring it to the cinema," Cecanu told FNE. She thinks that there is still room left for other distributors on the market.
