BUCHAREST: The 19th European Film Festival, the oldest film festival in Bucharest, wrapped on 14 May 2015 after screening 56 films from 26 countries. The festival will now move on to four other Romanian towns.

It was the biggest edition so far with 10 European premieres, films by famous directors, a retrospective of Tudor Giurgiu (the honorary ambassador of the festival this year), student films and a Romanian Day. The programme also included for the first time three workshops about film criticism, film education and animation, and multimedia screenings and concerts.

The festival also included for the first time a selection of films from or about Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, and a panel of discussion about coproduction with participants from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. The European Film Festival will travel for the first time to four Romanian towns: Craiova (15-17 May 2015), Iaşi and Târgu Mureş (22-24 May 2015) and to Hundeoara (29-31 May 2015).

The festival is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the European Commission Representation in Romania, under the patronage of EUNIC and with the support of the embassies and cultural centres of the European Union countries.
