The film is investigating the romantic relationship with all its dependencies and crisis situations against the backdrop of the social realities of Romania and is an adaptation of Cezar-Paul Bădescu's novel Luminiţa, Mon Amour with the script co-written by Netzer and Bădescu.
The main characters are played by Mircea Postelnicu and Diana Cavalioti. The cast includes: Adrian Titieni, Vlad Ivanov, Igor Caras Romagnov, Tania Popa, Ionut Caras, Ioana Flora, Vasile Muraru and Carmen Tănase. Andrei Butică (Child’s Pose) is the DoP and Dana Bunescu (The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceaușescu produced by Icon Production) will edit.
Oana Kelemen is producing through Parada Film (the same company that produced Child’s Pose) in coproduction with augenschein Filmproduktion and Sophie Dulac Productions. The budget is 2.5 m EUR, Kelemen told FNE. The Romanian National Film Center, Eurimages, the MEDIA Programme, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW GmbH and France’s Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée are supporting.
Kelemen also said that casting and rehearsals started in August 2014 and that the script requires many complex sequences with lots of extras, difficult locations and special make-up. Christina Paul from Germany is leading the make-up team while André Rigaut will capture the sound. Shooting will need two cameras.
Shooting will wrap on 10 May 2016. The premiere is set for 2017. Negotiations with sales agents are underway.
