CLUJ-NAPOCA: The dark comedy Eastern Business/Afacerea est from Moldavian director Igor Cobileanski will screen in the Romanian Days at the 15th edition of Transilvania IFF (TIFF, 27 May - 5 June 2016). The film is the first Romanian/Lithuanian coproduction.

Eastern Business is a dark comedy about the unlikely friendship between Marian and Petro who, confronted with the lack of perspectives, become business partners and start a journey across Eastern Europe.

“Eastern Europe is the place of celebration and sorrow. Here all people have dreams, but not always the proper conditions to fulfill them", the director said in a statement. Ion Sapdaru and Constantin Pușcașu play the main characters.

The film was produced by Iuliana Tarnovețchi through Alien Film in coproduction with Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė through Lithuania's Just a Moment. The Romanian National Film Center and the Lithuanian Film Centre supported it.

The film was shot in 57 locations (rural areas and Bucharest surroundings) in July and August 2015. This is the second feature film by Cobileanski after the acclaimed drama The Unsaved/La limita de jos a cerului (Saga Film). Iuliana Tarnovețchi told FNE that the Romanian premiere is set for October or November 2016 while the Lithuanian premiere will most likely be in March 2017.
