Two Lottery Tickets was produced by Dragoş Bucur through Actoriedefilm.ro in coproduction with Paul Negoescu through Papillon Film and Jesus del Cerro through Spain’s Kikland, with the support of Erka Synergy Communication, Cinelabs Romania, HBO Romania and UNATC. The film is distributed in Romania by Ro Image 2000.
The story is loosely based on I.L. Caragiale’s novella and follows three guys who win a lottery but lose the tickets. Popular actors Dragos Bucur, Alexandru Papadopol and Dorian Boguță are starring. The unusual marketing campaign included a lottery of cinema tickets for a vintage Romanian car used in the film and Dragos Bucur returning the ticket money in person after a few screenings.
In 2015, Radu Jude's Aferim! (HiFilm) sold 20,039 tickets in the first weekend and beat the record set in 2013 by Călin Peter Netzer's Child's Pose / Poziția copilului (Parada Film) with 19,729 admissions.
