BUCHAREST: The Romanian/Mexican/Japanese coproduction Drunken Fish on the Moon (working title) directed by the Japanese Kohki Hasei is expected to have a three weeks shoot in Romania in the autumn of 2018. The project is currently in the financing stage with the Romanian party represented by Metropolis Film and the producer Daniel Mitulescu. Emir Kusturica is the executive producer.

The estimative budget is 1 m EUR, representatives of Metropolis Film told FNE. The film is produced by Pisito Trece Producciones from Mexico in coproduction with Transformes Inc from Japan and Metropolis Film from Romania.

The film will tell four stories from different corners of the world - Ghana, Mexico and Jamaica, that come together in the end in Romania.

„As I lived in a Roma community for some time and enjoyed their music so much, and given the research that I’ve made in Ghana, Jamaica and Mexico, I plan to show the life of those people who are not financially rich, but who are living a rich life, full of music and fun”, Kohki Hasei said in a statement.

Most of the crew will be Romanian, including the DoP. Line producers from Ghana, Mexico and Jamaica are also involved, as the film will also be shot in these countries. The film will be completed in 2019, according to Daniel Mitulescu.

Hasei received two awards at the Venice International Film Festival for his debut feature Blanka. Drunken Fish on the Moon will be his sophomore feature.
