The film tackles a delicate subject in Romanian history, the massacre of approximately 20,000 Jewish people by the Romanian army in Odessa in 1941. The script penned by Jude follows a young theatre director, who plans to do a reenactment of the Odessa massacre during a Bucharest Days cultural event, despite the doubts of the city hall and her personal problems.
Hi Film Productions produced the film in coproduction with Czech company endorfilm, France’s Les Films d’Ici, Bulgaria’s Klas Film and Germany’s Komplizen Film.
I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians/Îmi este indiferent dacă în istorie vom intra ca barbari is supported by SEE Network, the Romanian Film Centre, Aide aux Cinémas du Monde, the Czech State Cinematography Fund, the Bulgarian National Film Center and Eurimages.
Beta Cinema is handling the sales and Micro Film will release the film in Romania on 28 September 2018.
The 91th Oscars will be held on 24 February 2018.
