Euronews president Philippe Cayla made the announce at a press conference held in Bucharest. Sarb is the first Central European to hold a position on the channel's staff. Sarb's priorities in 2009 will be the diversification, international development and new programmes. Sarb previously worked for Romanian national television and for the Money Channel.
Cayla also announced that Euronews channel will open a Romanian branch in the next year or two, which would make it the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to host a Euronews branch.
Euronews is broadcasting in 8 languages, in 139 countries.
