Production: Counting Sheep nears end of filming

    Romanian-Irish co-production Counting Sheep, from director Dieter Auner, will complete a one-year filming schedule by the end of May.

    The film is a co-production from Mobra Films (www.mobrafilms.ro), the company Palme d'Or winner Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) manages, along with DOP Oleg Mutu and filmmaker Hanno Hoefer .

    The Irish co-producers are Ikandi Productions (www.ikandi.ie) and Dieter Auner's DA Films.

    Auner (Leaving Transylvania) is a Romanian born filmmaker living in Ireland. The film is an observational documentary focused on one character, and covering a year of shepherding between tradition and progress in the EU.

    The film will be supported by Irish Film Board and TG4. The estimated budget is €200,000.

    The project was in development 2007-2008. Post-production will be completed by the end of the year. The premiere is set for 2010.

    The director will have a longer version (120 min at most) for the cinema and festivals, and a shorter one (52 min) for TV.
