American actor Frank Langella is set to play the main role. The major co-producer, the Romanian company Castel Film (www.castelfilm.ro), plans on making it the most expensive Romanian production so far, with a budget of over €5 million.
Bogdan Moncea, the marketing manager of Castel Film Studios, told FNE that the film is a co-production between Castel Film (70% of the budget), German Intuit Pictures GmbH (www.intuitpictures.com) and Belgian Saga Film (www.sagafilm.be). The French company Eskwad (www.eskwad.fr) is co-financing.
The project also received €100,000 from Romanian public television (www.tvr.ro), and is supported by McCann-Erickson (www.mccann.ro). It already has a €350,000 grant from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro), obtained in 2008.
Shooting is due to start October 4, 2010, and will last 5 weeks. The shooting will cover Germany, Paris and Romania. Romanian Marius Panduru (Police, Adjective, If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle) is the DOP.
