Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (who previously made Crank, Crank: High Voltage and Gamer) are directing. The second Ghost Rider is produced by Sony Pictures (www.sonypictures.com) and is the first film to be shot entirely in 3D in Romania. The visual and pyrotechnic effects are also a first for Romania. The team counts 200 technicians, most of them Romanian. The script is written by Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman, after a story by David Goyer. The project has a budget of 70 million dollars. Castel Film is providing facilities.
The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Violante Placido (The American) and Ciaran Hinds (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, There Will Be Blood, Munich). The cast also includes Romanian actors Cristi Iacob, Sorin Tofan, Valentin Popescu, Constantin Puşcaşu and Ioan Andrei Ionescu.
The filmmakers will use Castel Film's largest sound stage, the biggest in Romania, to build one of the main settings. They will also shoot on location at Sibiu, Târgu Jiu, Hunedoara Castle, Bucharest and Transfăgărăşan.
Inspired by Marvel Comics, Ghost Rider follows the adventures of Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman who sold his soul to the devil in order to save his father, and who in return morphs into Ghost Rider, a character so strong it can compete with the devil's son.
