The story begins in the late 1970's, when 6-year-old Istvan is in a car crash with his family; five years later, before Christmas, when his mother is raped in exchange for passports; 1989, when he is a 19-year-old student at the secret police training school; and 2001, when he is a theater director awaiting a premiere.
The film is produced by Anca Puiu and Mandragora (www.mandragora.ro). One of the four parts of the project was selected for support by the Robert Bosch Foundation (www.bosch-stiftung.de). The budget is 867,600 euro. The six week shooting is planned to take place September-November 2011, with a premiere in 2012. The producers are seeking foreign co-producers.
