The first feature of the Italian brothers Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio is a contemporary drama of redemption, set against the social backdrop of the immigrant situation in Italy. Its main characters are a young Moldavian girl and a dying elderly Italian man.
The directors spent almost half a year looking for a young Romanian actress among 250 candidates, and finally choose Olimpia Melinte. For the other character they cast the well-known Italian actor Roberto Herlitzka (Buongiorno, notte). The script is written by the De Serio brothers. The DOP is Pierro Basso. Editing will take place in Romania at Chainsaw Europe (www.chainsaweurope.com).
The budget is 750,000 euro. The producers received a grant from Eurimages of 100,000 euro. The Romanian company Elefant Film is contributed 20% of the budget. The film is also supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture, Film Commission Torino Piemonte, and private investors. The film was pre-sold to RAI Cinema, and will be distributed in Italy by Cineccità Luce.
The premiere is set for 2011.
