DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION: Vojtek Filming Children

BRATISLAVA: Jaroslav Vojtek (The Border) started shooting his first feature in May 2012. If in his documentary Unwanted Children/ Nechcené deti (2001) he was dealing with children from foster homes, he is now telling four individual stories about the complicated relationships between parents and children in modern Slovakia.

As each story is not just told from one particular point of view but also takes place in a different season, shooting started in May and it will continue in September, November and January 2013. Together there will be 32 days of shooting

The script Marek Leščák wrote is based on a story he imagined together with Jaroslav Vojtek. Tomáš Stanek is the DOP. Children/Deti is produced by Mátyás Prikler and MPhilms s.r.o (www.mphilms.sk) together with Pavlína Kalandrová and the Czech company Duracfilm (www.duracfilm.cz).

The total budget (production and post-production) is 550,000 Euro, representatives from MPhilms told FNE. The Slovak Audiovisual Fund (www.avf.sk) is supporting the project with 227,790 Euro. The film is also supported by Státní fond pro podporu a rozvoj české kinematografie (http://www.mkcr.cz/statni-fondy/statni-fond-pro-podporu-a-rozvoj-ceske-kinematografie/default.htm). Children is set to be finished in 2013, but the date of premiere is not yet known, and there is no sales agent attached to the project yet.
