The Cellar tells the story of two parents, whose 16-year daughter doesn‘t come home after her birthday party. The father decides to take the search in his own hands. Full of despair and suspision, he kidnaps Lenka’s friend and imprisons him in a forest cabin.
„The Cellar is a genre film with a strong storyline and a standard storyline composition that pierces into the depths of the soul. Despite the fact that it deals with the topic of kidnapping, we don’t want to make a thriller, but a deep psychological drama. We are very glad that Igor Voloshin accepted our invitation to collaborate on this project“, says Lívia Filusová from major Slovak production company Furia Film.
Furia Film is producing in coproduction with 8heads production from the Czech Republic and Russia’s Gate LCC. The project has an estimated budget of 1,357,064 EUR, and it was already supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Czech Cinematography Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The script was penned by Richard Pupala, who already finished its final version. Principal photography will last 34 days and the release is planned for May 2018.
Igor Voloshin‘s short film Suka premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF in 2001 and for Okhota na zaytsev he cooperated with Olga Simonova for the first time. The Cellar is his sixth feature film.
