Slovakia’s 20% incentive scheme established in 2015 will ease the requirements starting August 2017. The minimum expenditure level will be cut from 2 m EUR to 150,000 EUR for a single feature, documentary or animated film (with a minimum length of 70 minutes), and to 300,000 EUR for a project involving at least two such films or a television series (maximum 13 episodes of minimum of 40 minutes).
The launch of the National Film Agency is planned for the second half of 2017. „The main aim is to make Slovakia a ‘film landscape‘, that is open for foreign producers to come and realize their projects. Enabling links between Slovak and foreign film professionals can create great opportunities“, the Minister of Culture Marek Maďarič said at a recent press conference.
The Slovak Audiovisual Fund’s budget is set to increase to at least 6 m EUR in 2018. Fund’s budget was 4.5 m EUR in 2014-2016 and 5m EUR in 2017.
